Job summary

HCA Healthcare seeks a Cardiovascular Data Abstractor II to perform abstraction of cardiovascular data from medical records for complex services. You will work with systems like COMET, TheraDoc, NHSN, and more to ensure regulatory compliance and timely reporting.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in Health Information Management with coding, nursing or registry abstraction experience; RHIT/RHIA/CCS preferred and a healthcare-related bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of Health Information Management experience in coding, nursing, or health registry abstraction.
• Certified coding or nursing program completion strongly preferred.
• RHIT, RHIA, or CCS certification strongly preferred.
• LVN or RN preferred.
• Undergraduate degree in a healthcare-related field required; extensive experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.

Responsibilities

• Completes abstraction for assigned facilities, entering cases into required systems (e.g., COMET, TheraDoc, NHSN, etc.).
• Reviews medical records to abstract information according to regulatory/accreditation standards (CMS, TJC, NHSN, etc.).
• Performs timely abstraction to ensure standards compliance.
• Performs edit checks and makes timely changes.
• Follows standards and Parallon instructions to abstract all reportable cases.
• Assists with case follow-up as requested.
• Attends educational activities approved by Manager or Director.
• Maintains clinical knowledge of various abstracted measures.
• Communicates with manager to achieve measure compliance.
• Submits data timely through the appropriate reporting system.
• Resolves errors resulting in the rejection of records from the data entry system.

Asa work from home Cardiovascular Data Abstractor II,you will be responsible for abstraction of data for complex cardiovascular services data.

What you will do in this role:

• Completes abstraction process for assigned facility(ies), including abstraction of cases into the required system (e.g., COMET, TheraDoc, Digital Innovations, NHSN, etc.).
• Responsible for reviewing medical records to abstract information according to the standards of various regulatory and accreditation agencies (e.g., CMS, TJC, NHSN, etc.).
• Performs timely abstraction to ensure compliance with standards.
• Completes edit checks and makes appropriate changes on a timely basis.
• Follow standards and CSG/Parallon instructions to abstract all reportable cases.
• Assist with case follow-up as requested.
• Attend educational activities as approved by Manager or Director.
• Maintain clinical knowledge of various abstracted measures.
• Communicate in a timely manner with manager to achieve measure compliance.
• Submit data timely through the appropriate reporting system.
• Resolve errors resulting in the rejection of records from the data entry system.

What qualifications you will need:

• 2+ years of experience in Health Information Management; Coding, Nursing, and/or Health Registry abstraction experience required
• Completion of a certified coding or nursing program strongly preferred
• RHIT, RHIA, CCS certification strongly preferred
• LVN or RN preferred
• Undergraduate degree in a healthcare related field required. Extensive experience (5 years or more) may be considered in lieu of formal education.
