Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide per-diem coverage for the cardiothoracic surgery ICU.
• Manage post cardiac and thoracic surgery patients.
• Participate in ongoing education, quality, and research projects.
• Participate in ongoing education, quality, and research projects; contribute to service-related databases.
• Educate patients and families during inpatient course.

Overview

The award-winning physicians at Lehigh Valley Heart and Vascular Institute are all board-certified, many having served fellowships or received additional training with leading programs. Our expert clinicians utilize continuing medical education to further research and enhance collaboration, leading to better patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Per-diem coverage support of the 11-bed cardiothoracic surgery ICU (Open Heart Unit).
• Work in conjunction with the attending cardiothoracic surgeon, and non-surgical providers, for medical care of cardiothoracic surgical patients.
• Duties include: managing post cardiac and thoracic surgery patients, ECMO, LVAD, bedside procedures, and assisting in inpatient practice needs.
• Perform initial evaluation, history, and physical examination of all assigned patients.
• Placement of invasive monitoring lines including central venous catheters, dialysis lines, and arterial access.
• Participate in ongoing education, quality, and research projects.
• Contribute to service-related databases as indicated.
• Participate in education of patients and families during their inpatient course.
