Job summary

Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) seeks a physician assistant with cardiothoracic surgery experience to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team on the care of surgical patients. The role includes initial evaluations, daily care planning, and discharge planning, with responsibilities in the TOHU step-down unit and opportunities for teaching, quality projects, and research.

• Must be board eligible or board certified.
• PA license or ability to obtain one is required.
• Graduate from an accredited nurse practitioner program.
• ICU experience preferred; independent clinician experience required.

Responsibilities

• Work with the attending cardiothoracic surgeon and non-surgical providers for medical care of cardiothoracic surgical patients.
• Perform initial evaluation, history, and physical examination of all assigned patients.
• Perform daily assessment and formulate plan of care for all assigned patients and direct admissions.
• Complete patient discharge on all assigned patients.
• Responsible for the care of all postoperative patients in our TOHU step down unit.
• Participate in ongoing education, quality, and research projects.
• Contribute to service-related databases as indicated.
• Participate in education of patients and families during their inpatient course.
