Job summary

United Health Services (UHS) is seeking an experienced physician assistant to join our cardiothoracic surgery service line. The role involves patient care coordination, OR assist duties with vein harvest experience, and involvement in CVICU coverage in a collaborative setting.

Shift is 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with a post-call day off; 1 in 3 call shared with other PAs. Located at UHS Cardiothoracic, this position offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant (NCCPA).
• Current licensure with the state of New York as a physician assistant (PA).
• Completion of an accredited PA program.
• Master of Science in Physician Assistant related field.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient care under the direction of the supervising physician(s).
• Round on hospital-admitted patients and review care plans with nursing staff.
• Assist in the operating room; vein harvest experience required.
• Perform physical assessments and complete patient histories.
• Complete discharge summaries.
• Order medications, treatments, labs, etc.
• Be available for call according to the schedule, including holidays.
• Other duties as determined by supervising physicians.
