Responsibilities include patient handling and restraint, preparation for exams and procedures, basic monitoring, cleaning and stocking of clinical areas, and support for faculty, house officers, technicians, and students. The role also contributes to teaching and supporting student learning in the clinical setting and assists with administrative tasks related to appointment coordination and patient flow. This work unit exists to provide administration and direction of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital and provide a support facility for service to the general public and referring veterinarians.Essential Job Duties:Support Cardiology outpatient clinics, diagnostic testing, and procedures by preparing patients, equipment, and treatment areas to ensure efficient daily operations.Assist veterinarians and credentialed technicians with patient handling, restraint, transport, positioning, and monitoring during examinations, ECGs, echocardiograms, and other cardiology procedures while promoting patient safety and comfort.Coordinate patient flow by supporting appointment logistics, communicating with the clinical team, and preparing exam and procedure areas to maximize workflow efficiency and client service.Maintain clinical readiness by stocking supplies, organizing equipment, cleaning and disinfecting treatment and procedure areas, and adhering to hospital infection control and safety standards.Support the teaching mission of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital by assisting veterinary students, interns, and residents with patient handling, reinforcing basic clinical skills, and modeling specialty service workflows under the direction of clinical staff.Communicate effectively with veterinarians, technicians, students, and clients to facilitate continuity of care, ensure accurate exchange of information, and contribute to a collaborative team environment.Perform other related duties as assigned in support of the Cardiology Service and the Veterinary Teaching Hospital.Conditions of Employment:Pre-employment Criminal Background Check (required for new hires).Essential Services Designation: Required to report without delay or interruption to provide essential or emergency services to ensure health, safety and welfare.Supervision:NoneMinimum Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent required.Minimum 2 years of experience in a veterinary setting, with familiarity in animal handling, client communication, and basic lab techniques.Preferred Qualifications:Experience supporting outpatient appointments and/or specialty service workflow.Experience training or mentoring others, including students, interns, or residents.Experience working with cardiac veterinary patients in general or specialty practice, including familiarity with handling and supporting diagnostics or procedures.Application Instructions:This position will remain open until filled.
