Job summary

CVCA Frederick is a leading veterinary cardiology specialty practice located in Frederick, MD. We are seeking a Cardiology Veterinary Assistant to join our focused team dedicated to advanced diagnostic imaging, echocardiograms, and critical case management.

You will work closely with cardiologists and technicians to support exams, procedures, and client communication. You will provide compassionate care, help maintain a high-quality facility, and contribute to a nationwide network offering

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent is required.
• Veterinary assistant experience is required.
• Calm and efficient approach for fast-paced environments.
• Ability to handle pets of all sizes and temperaments.
• Strong organizational and communication skills are essential.
• Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for long periods; travel to secondary locations may be required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver hands-on clinical support to cardiologists and technicians during patient exams, triage, procedures, venipuncture, medication administration, and radiographs.
• Assist with specialized cardiac diagnostics such as ECGs, Holter monitors, data collection, and blood pressure measurement.
• Prepare patients for diagnostics and procedures, assist with positioning, restraint, instrument cleaning, and maintenance of cardiac equipment.
• Provide compassionate patient care and maintain a clean, organized facility.
• Discharge patients, review treatment plans and medications, follow up with clients, and assist with scheduling and answering phones.
• Maintain medical records, prescriptions, and invoices, support exam room turnover, monitor supplies, and aid in training new teammates.
