Job summary

Trinity Health Of New England Medical Group in Waterbury is seeking a Surgical Scheduler to coordinate cardiology procedures, including pre- and post-operative visits, under the provider's direction. You will manage provider templates and align surgeon OR schedules with ambulatory clinic timelines, ensuring no overlaps.

You will obtain accurate demographics and insurance data in EPIC, and support inter-physician and hospital communications for surgical cases.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 2-5 years Healthcare office experience. Medical terminology preferred.
• Prior surgical scheduling experience highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains proper provider schedules and coordinates surgeries in an efficient manner.
• Accountable for obtaining pre-surgical testing, arrangements and reporting to pre-admission testing with Hospital.
• Schedules procedures in relation to patient diagnosis and surgery urgency.
• Completes pre-authorizations and prior approvals from third party payers for radiology and surgical procedures.
• Captures patient information (demographics, diagnosis, procedure, insurance) in EPIC.
• Coordinates information exchanges between physicians, outside groups, and Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center.
• Reviews discharge instructions with patients and ensures follow-up appointments are scheduled at the time of scheduling.
