Job summary

Duke University Health System in Durham, NC, seeks a Registered Nurse for the Cardiology Stepdown Unit (7300). This on-site role welcomes new graduates or experienced RNs who embrace our mission of advancing health together.

The unit features 28 beds, 7am-7pm or 7pm-7am shifts with rotating days; relocation assistance and loan forgiveness programs are available for eligible hires. A strong emphasis on patient-centered care and teamwork guides daily practice.

Qualifications

• Must graduate from an accredited Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program.
• RNs without a Bachelor's degree are encouraged to enroll in a BSN program within two years and complete within seven.
• Must have current North Carolina RN licensure (or compact) to practice.
• BLS required, may be renewed during orientation.

Responsibilities

• Plan, provide and document professional nursing care in accordance with physician orders and policies.
• Delegate tasks and supervise other licensed and unlicensed staff.
• Assist other healthcare personnel in patient care delivery.
• Maintain the environment of care and manage resources.
• Support professional development and ongoing competencies.
• Assist in staff development and learner supervision.
• Identify performance improvement opportunities and assist in initiatives.
• Perform other related duties incidental to the work.
