Job summary

Duke University Health System is seeking a Nursing Assistant I in the Cardiology Stepdown unit in Durham, NC. The role collaborates with RNs/LPNs to provide essential patient care and support for acutely ill patients.

Responsibilities include assisting with daily living activities, monitoring vitals, documenting in EHR, and participating in patient transport and discharge processes. Valid NC Nursing Assistant I credentials and BCLS certification required by orientation end date.

Qualifications

• Assist with direct patient care and basic comfort needs.
• Understand infection control practices and hospital safety precautions.
• Accurately document patient information in health records.
• Take and record vital signs and I&O when assigned.
• Flexible and able to work rotating shifts and assist with patient transport.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients, equipment and supplies for procedures; provide manual assistance as required.
• Obtain and record patient data for medical records; inform RN/LPN of information collected.
• Administer basic care and personal care procedures; support patient comfort and safety.
• Assist with admission, discharge, and transportation of patients.
• Document and notify RN/LPN of changes in patient condition and care needs.
