Job summary

Banner University Medical Group in Tucson, AZ seeks a Medical Assistant to support the La Cholla Cardiology team. The MA will room patients, take vitals, assist with exams and minor procedures, and handle scheduling and clerical tasks to ensure smooth clinic operations.

This full-time position supports pre-certifications, injections, and in-office care under provider supervision, with a Monday–Friday 8am–5pm schedule. The role emphasizes high-quality patient care and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an approved medical assistant training program.
• Active Medical Assistant Certification (MA) required.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patient for exam and treatment by taking and recording vital signs, symptoms and other necessary measurements; document pain scores as appropriate; report condition to clinician.
• Assist providers with exams and minor in-office procedures including taking BP, respiration, heart rate, temperature, phlebotomies, ear irrigation and EKGs; act as chaperone as needed; prioritize patient flow.
• Coordinate and manage patient care including pre-certifications, referrals, authorizations, prescriptions and scheduling; communicate test results to patient; may administer medications per policy.
• Provide clerical support with medical records, labs, authorizations, X-rays and billing information; ensure accurate information for billing and patient care.
• Maintain a clean, functional environment; disinfect equipment; follow OSHA guidelines; coordinate maintenance of equipment.
• Order supplies, stock patient care areas; manage medication ordering and recalls.
• Develop and maintain effective communication with internal and external customers; exemplify service orientation.
• Complete onboarding/orientation activities, including simulation training as needed.
• Work under direct supervision of providers; interact with staff, physicians, patients and external contacts; prioritize data from multiple sources to support patient care.
