Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs seeks a Cardiology Physician to provide consultation services and follow up for Cardiology patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings at the Des Moines VA Medical Center and affiliated Community Based Outpatient Clinics.

The role emphasizes comprehensive evaluations, interpretation of diagnostic studies, development of treatment plans, collaboration with Cardiology APPs and other clinicians, and participation in quality improvement and education.

Qualifications

• United States Citizenship is required.
• Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree.
• MD/DO degree must be from an approved school.
• Current full and unrestricted medical license in the U.S.
• Residency training in an accredited core specialty.
• Board certification or eligibility in cardiology preferred for faculty/appointment.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert consultation and treatment for Cardiac conditions.
• Conduct comprehensive evaluations including history, physical exams, and ordering tests.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for cardiac patients.
• Collaborate with Cardiology APPs and other healthcare professionals.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and discharge planning.
• Provide E-Consults and review consults for Care in the Community or VA services.
