Cardiology Oncology Advanced Practice Clinician (Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant) Jefferson Center City

Job Details

The advanced practice provider (Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant) within the ambulatory setting works in collaboration with, and is an integral member of, a multidisciplinary health care team. The APP provides comprehensive care in the Cardio-Oncology Program based primarily out of Center City, PA, with potential regional centers including Asplundh in Abington, PA.

The Cardio-Oncology Program is a unique multidisciplinary program working closely with SKCCC. Patients include individuals being treated for malignancies (hematologic, solid tumor, etc.) or candidates for SCT/BMT, who may have underlying cardiovascular disease or develop cardiovascular complications secondary to oncologic treatments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage adult patients with cancer referred for cardiovascular assessment, management, and monitoring pre, during, and post-treatment.
  • Perform complete history & physicals, document in medical records, prescribe appropriate treatments, tests, and medications.
  • Develop protocols for cardiotoxicity management and survivorship initiatives; engage in outreach activities if desired.
  • Perform inpatient consultations as the program evolves, including inpatient consultative services.
  • Participate in clinics at Honickman during the workweek.
  • Incorporate TeleMedicine into daily practice as appropriate.
  • Develop skills in interpreting labs and ECGs.
  • No call and no holidays.
Assessment & Management:

Conduct comprehensive assessments, order and interpret diagnostic tests, serve as first responder for patient status changes, and manage risks related to complex patient care.

Diagnosis & Plan of Care:

Collaborate with the team to diagnose, formulate differential diagnoses, manage complications, and develop individualized care plans based on evidence-based guidelines.

Documentation & Communication:

Maintain timely and compliant documentation; facilitate ongoing communication with patients, families, and the healthcare team.

Professional Practice:

Engage in mentoring, education, research, and continuous learning; participate in grand rounds and specialty meetings; maintain CEUs and professional memberships.

Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree and national certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
  • BLS certification.
  • Cardiology experience preferred.
Work Details:

Workday: Day shift, full-time, outpatient setting in Philadelphia, PA.
