Job summary

Northwestern Medicine’s Lake Forest Hospital is seeking a Part-Time Nurse Clinician for the Cardiology clinic, 24 hours per week, schedule Tue, Wed and Fri, 8:00am–5:00pm. This role requires RN licensure in Illinois, BLS, and nursing experience with patient assessments by phone or in person, plus coordination of patient education with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• Registered Professional Nurse licensure in the State of Illinois.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification.
• Current experience within past five years or new nursing graduate within past two years.
• If less than six months experience, approval required from NMG Director of Professional Development.
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred (may be required for some roles within Oncology).
• 1–2 years’ experience in ambulatory or acute care.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and clean work environment. Ensure OSHA compliance and report deficiencies to supervisor.
• Provide pre-attending care for patients using the nursing process and document assessments.
• Perform routine nursing duties including phlebotomy, medication administration, and vital signs; support complex procedures as needed.
• Interpret abnormalities detected in tests and procedures and document interventions.
• Communicate and collaborate with other departments to coordinate patient care.
• Triage and prioritize incoming telephone calls and document assessments.
• Manage urgent/emergent medical situations per organization protocols.
• Serve as a resource for staff and physicians; delegate tasks according to Illinois law.
• Comply with all policies and procedures related to patient care; implement improvements.
• Initiate and coordinate patient education and community outreach as requested.

Education

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing

Registered Professional Nurse licensure in the State of Illinois
