Job summary

Ochsner Health is seeking a dedicated EKG Technician to provide individualized patient care by performing high-quality 12-lead EKG tests and maintaining equipment. The role includes clerical duties and ensuring patient records are accurate and complete.

Required education is a high school diploma or equivalent with BLS certification; CCT is preferred. Shifts are 12-hour, including nights and weekends, with a rotating schedule in a healthcare setting.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with computers, software and web-based applications.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal abilities.
• Working knowledge of 12-lead EKG tests.
• Ability to recognize arrhythmias accurately.
• Flexibility to work nights, weekends and extended shifts.
• Good planning, judgment and decision-making skills.
• BLS certification required; CCT preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, instruct and educate patients on the EKG procedure.
• Perform 12-lead EKGs and other diagnostic procedures as assigned.
• Document and maintain patient records.
• Maintain clean and functional EKG equipment and work area.
• Adapt communication and approach to different patient populations.
• Perform additional duties as required by leadership.
