Job summary

Idaho Falls Community Hospital is seeking a Clinical Nurse Educator to provide clinical education and evaluation to nursing staff in a high-acuity setting, including cardiac, surgical, and medical care. The role collaborates with cardiology teams and management to integrate best practices into patient care and may perform bedside education as required.

The educator plans orientation and ongoing education, supports competency development, and helps coordinate quality improvement with leadership.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited RN program with current Idaho RN licensure.
• Current BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications.
• Completion of Basic Dysrhythmia course.

Responsibilities

• Educate nursing staff on clinical practices and care protocols.
• Orient new clinical personnel and conduct educational skills labs.
• Provide bedside education to staff and ensure adherence to standards.
• Plan and coordinate ongoing education programs in cardiac care and telemetry.

JOB SUMMARY:

Provides clinical education and evaluation to nursing and patient care staff and facilitates evidenced-based research within a higher acuity area of nursing including cardiac, surgical, and medical care. Collaborates with medical practitioners, cardiologist team, and clinical management to incorporate clinical processes into the plan of care for patients. Performs direct nursing services to patients as required, ensuring adherence to professional standards and IFCH policies, procedures, and guidelines.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• 1. Meets requirements and can uphold the job description of a staff registered nurse.
• 2. Demonstrates expertise in the teaching/learning process to improve clinical practice and system processes.
• 3. Assumes direct responsibility for orienting new clinical personnel, can create and conduct educational skills labs/teaching sessions.
• 4. Will provide bedside education to staff.
• 5. Plans and conducts orientation and continued education programs for all levels of clinical personnel related to cardiac patient care, cardiac equipment, and telemetry.
• 6. Assesses the educational needs within the clinical departments, develops plans to meet these needs and assumes direct teaching responsibility (on the job or planned classroom) for all levels of clinical personnel.
• 7. Collaborates with team members, management, and the administration team to plan a yearly calendar of programs including annual competencies and assists in its execution.
• 8. Assists all department managers in meeting the educational needs of their employees.
• 9. Serves on assigned committees as directed by management team.
• 10. Maintains appropriate records of clinical personnel’s licensures and certifications; monitors expiration dates and assists with relicensing and recertification, assigned education as needed.
• 11. Participates in activities that promote professional growth and development.
• 12. Monitors quality of care and coordinates quality improvement projects in collaboration with manager.
• 13. Collaborates with management regarding professional development of staff and areas of deficiencies.
• 14. Collaborates with other educators regarding the progression of the team to ensure that team members are competent and confident.
• 15. Completes other tasks and duties as assigned by the manager.

Qualifications:
