Job summary

Baptist Health Medical Group in Louisville is seeking a Medical Assistant for the Cardiology Clinic in the St. Matthews area. This full-time, first shift role supports providers with patient care and clinic operations.

Responsibilities include taking vital signs, documenting patient history, reconciling medications, managing EPIC, scheduling, and coordinating tests. On-site presence required; sign-on bonus eligibility applies.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of medical office experience with direct patient care (vitals, history, procedures).
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program with hands-on patient care.
• CPR/BLS within 90 days of hire; BAT and DOT certifications within 90 days.
• Proficiency with EMR systems and basic computer tasks.

Responsibilities

• Obtain vital signs, collect history, and assist in clinical procedures.
• Reconcile medications, document in EHR, and coordinate patient flow.

The Medical Assistant provides direct patient care and clinical support within an outpatient clinic. Responsibilities include obtaining vital signs, reconciling medications, collecting patient history, and facilitating patient flow.

Additional duties involve managing the electronic health record (EPIC), scheduling appointments, processing medication requests, handling prior authorizations, and coordinating tests and procedures. Upon successful completion of clinical competency, the role may also require performing EKGs, lab tests, injections, and/or phlebotomy.

Strong communication and organizational skills are essential to ensure efficient patient care and support for providers. This role requires regular on-site presence to perform the essential job functions.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or General Education Equivalency

• 1+ year(s) of experience in a medical office, clinic or similar setting performing clinical duties is required. Experience must include direct, hands-on patient care in a clinical setting, such as obtaining vital signs, documenting patient history and medications, and performing clinical procedures (e.g. EKG’s, phlebotomy, administering injections or vaccines).

• Or Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant training program, that includes hands on patient experience as part of the curriculum, required.

• Upon hire, all Medical Assistants will undergo a clinical competency assessment and must successfully complete MA orientation. Those who do not meet the required standards will be enrolled in the Medical Assistant Trainee Program for further development and evaluation.

• Basic computer skills, experience with EMR System a plus.

• Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire.

• BAT and DOT certifications required for Medical Assistants in Occupational Medicine within 90 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications for a Certified Medical Assistant:

• Current Medical Assistant Certification from AAMA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, or AAMP.

• Or graduate of an accredited LPN or RN program with current unrestricted licensure.

• Upon hire, all Medical Assistants will undergo a clinical competency assessment and must successfully complete MA orientation. Those who do not meet the required standards will be enrolled in the Medical Assistant Trainee Program for further development and evaluation.
