Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in Interventional Cardiology.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with patients to improve their health and well‑being.
  • Provide patient care in a culturally sensitive, legally responsible manner.
  • Manage complex cardiac conditions, including heart attacks and life‑threatening arrhythmias.
  • Treat diseases of the heart and blood vessels.
  • Perform cardiac imaging (echocardiography, CT, MRI, nuclear studies) if certified.
  • Participate in a multidisciplinary team for case management.
  • Use quality improvement tools to develop processes that enhance patient care and workflow.

Job Summary

Allina Health Minnesota Heart Institute is seeking a Non‑Invasive Cardiologist to join the practice at United Hospital in St. Paul. The position involves full‑time inpatient/outpatient care with a combination of 8‑ and 12‑hour shifts. Applicants will work within a highly ranked cardiovascular center that serves the Twin Cities and Western Wisconsin.

Key Position Details
  • Full‑time inpatient/outpatient practice.
  • Clinic locations include St. Paul (east metro) and Western Wisconsin.
  • Shift structure: 8 and 12‑hour shifts.
  • Bed space: 546 licensed beds across United Hospital.
  • Work environment includes a comprehensive Epic electronic health record system.
Principal Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with patients to improve their health and well‑being.
  • Provide patient care in a culturally sensitive, legally responsible manner.
  • Manage complex cardiac conditions, including heart attacks and life‑threatening arrhythmias.

Required Qualifications
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), or foreign equivalent from an approved medical school.
  • Completion of an ACGME or AOA accredited residency in Internal Medicine or foreign equivalent.
  • Completion of an ACGME or AOA accredited fellowship in Interventional Cardiology or foreign equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience in Interventional Cardiology.
Licenses and Certifications
  • MD, DO, or foreign equivalent required.
  • Board Certification by the ABIM with a certificate of special qualification in cardiovascular disease upon hire.
  • Board Certification in interventional cardiology (ABIM or AOA) required for invasive practice upon hire.
  • Active, non‑restricted medical licensure in Minnesota and Wisconsin (or ability to obtain).
  • Ability to obtain MN DEA certification and NPI.
  • ACLS certification required upon hire.
  • Meeting credentialing criteria for hospital privileges.
Physical Demands
  • Lifting weight up to 32 lbs occasionally; up to 25 lbs frequently.
Pay Range

Annual base pay range: $644,240 – $812,600, depending on experience, education, and union agreement.
