Job Summary

The Reading Hospital is seeking an Advanced Practitioner to join our CT Surgery team. The General Cardiothoracic Surgical Advanced Practitioner collaborates with Cardiothoracic Surgeons and healthcare professionals to coordinate and deliver patient care within the non-cardiac surgical aspects of the cardiothoracic service. The role involves communication with patients, families, hospital departments, nursing, and medical staff, practicing within legal and institutional policies.

We are seeking a Non-Surgical NP or PA responsible for consults, rounding, direct admissions, discharges, ICU coverage during night shifts, and floor coverage during the day. The APP will assist surgeons pre-operatively, manage communications, prescribe diagnostic tests, perform H&P’s, and possess expertise in hemodynamic management, ventilators, ventricular assist devices, vasoactive drugs, and adult critical care, functioning autonomously within licensure limits.

Position Responsibilities

• Work hours from 5:30 PM to 7:00 AM
• Manage care for pre- and post-operative patients
• Handle inpatient consults during shifts
• Coordinate emergency physician response and OR bookings
• Support triage and stabilization until surgeon arrives
• Applicants must hold an active PA or NP license in Pennsylvania, with current BLS and ACLS certifications
