Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a qualified EKG Technician to perform 12-lead electrocardiograms and other non-invasive cardiovascular tests for cardiology interpretation.

You will prepare inpatients and outpatients for Holter monitoring, ensure accurate results, and promote patient safety. The role includes maintaining EKG data, logs, and equipment, with HS diploma and EKG-related certs required. CPR/BLS within 6 months is expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and 6 months to 1 year EKG/healthcare experience or an EKG certificate with clinical internship.
• Good oral and written communications; ability to measure blood pressure and identify arrhythmias.
• NCET or equivalent certification within 1 year; CPR/BLS within 6 months; or related degree with EKG coursework.

Responsibilities

• Perform 12-lead EKGs and other non-invasive cardiovascular testing for clinicians.
• Ensure accurate results; report severe abnormalities; promote patient safety.
• Prepare patients for Holter and event monitoring with clear usage instructions.
• Maintain EKG data and patient files; backup records and update logs.
• Keep equipment functioning; perform routine maintenance and report issues.
• Handle routine HIS tasks and document Performance Improvement monitors.
