Job summary

Good Shepherd Health Care System is seeking an EKG Technician in our Cardiology department. The role performs routine 12-lead EKGs for inpatients, outpatients, ER, and surgery settings and includes placing Holter monitors and documenting results in the EMR.

The position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a BLS certification, with a CET preferred. 1 year of hospital or clinical experience is desired; the job offers day shift hours and benefits paid by the employer.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS certification required; CET preferred.
• 1 year of experience in a hospital or clinical setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and stat 12-lead EKGs on patients in various settings (inpatients, outpatients, ER patients, day surgery, and the operating room).
• Prepare patients for procedures by explaining the test, answering questions and properly placing electrodes.
• Monitor equipment for proper functioning and ensure accurate data capture.
• Maintain accurate patient records and document procedures in the EMR system.
• Recognize and report abnormal or critical findings promptly to the appropriate clinical personnel.
• Transport EKG machines and supplies to patient rooms or departments as needed.
• Place and remove Holter monitors on inpatients and outpatients.
• Respond to all emergency situations, including Code Blue, Rapid Response, Code Stroke, and trauma activations.
