Job summary

Hartford Hospital is seeking a certified Surgical Technologist (CST) to join our Cardiac and Vascular team. You will assist in the OR for complex procedures, ensuring sterile technique, proper equipment readiness, and support before, during, and after surgeries.

The role operates in a high-volume, open heart and endovascular environment with experienced preceptors and strong educational support. A mix of day/evening shifts and 36-40 weekly hours is typical.

Qualifications

• Completion of a surgical technology program.
• Must be NBSTSA certified or able to obtain within one year of employment.
• CPR/BLS validation and annual Validation Day required.
• Knowledge of various surgical procedures and ability to anticipate surgeon needs.
• Knowledge of surgical equipment and instrumentation.
• Excellent interpersonal/communication skills.
• Adherence to sterile field policies and regulations.
• Knowledge of patient safety concepts and asepsis principles.
• Awareness of OR emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Provide service before, during, and after surgical procedures.
• Ensure proper arrangement of surgical equipment and supplies in the OR.
• Assist the surgeon during operations within professional and legal standards.
• Assist with cleaning the OR after procedures and routing used materials.
• Report to the Manager.
