Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist, Echo Lab, Full Time

Shift: Flexible 8-hour days/40 hours weekly, with staffing from Monday to Sunday, 7:00 am to 10:00 pm, including on-call services and weekend coverage.

Work Location: University of Miami Hospital - Cardiovascular Imaging - Echo Lab UTower

The Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist (U) uses ultrasound equipment to view and take pictures of patients' hearts and circulatory system. Responsibilities include scheduling and performing exams, taking patient histories, and reporting results to physicians for interpretation and diagnosis. The technologist looks for abnormalities in blood flow sounds, heart rhythm, oxygen saturation, and the appearance of the heart.

Core Job Functions

1. Detect defects or irregularities using ultrasound equipment.
2. Position patients and explain procedures.
3. Perform quality control functions.
4. Evaluate ultrasounds for diagnostic quality.
5. Prepare and set up medical supplies using aseptic techniques.
6. Develop ultrasound film and match it with the appropriate paperwork for interpretation.
7. Assist in maintenance and compilation of statistical data.
8. Provide orientation to new cardiac ultrasound technologists.
9. Provide education and training to cardiac ultrasound technology students.
10. Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.

Qualifications

Education: Associate degree in relevant field

Certification: ARDMS credentialing body RDCS license or CCI credentialing body RCS license

Experience: Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
