Job summary

UPMC Shadyside is hiring part-time Cardiac Transporters to support day-to-day operations in the Transportation Services Department in Shadyside, PA. Transporters will walk about seven miles daily, safely moving patients and equipment and aiding in quality of care.

Responsibilities include acquiring ECG readings, delivering supplies, and coordinating with ECG management systems while maintaining professional patient interactions and prioritizing STAT ECG requests as needed.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of lab terminology and CRT terminals is helpful.
• Must be able to rotate shifts that provide 24-hour/day, seven days per week coverage.
• Knowledge of office systems and procedures.
• Ability to accurately identify anatomical landmarks for the correct placement of the electrocardiographic leads.
• Ability to accurately follow departmental procedures.
• Basic knowledge of the operation and maintenance of the electrocardiographic management system required.

Responsibilities

• Acquire electrocardiograms in a manner compatible with the ECG management system.
• Adjust equipment and controls according to physician orders to establish protocol.
• Attach electrodes to the patient and operate the EKG machine to obtain readings.
• Deliver supplies, equipment, medication, and other materials to patient units safely and promptly.
• Interact with ECG management, Clinicpac, and Medipac systems to manage patient charges and retrieve EKGs.
