Job summary

UPMC Shadyside is hiring full-time Transporters to support the Transportation Services Department in Shadyside, PA. The role requires walking about seven miles per day, transporting patients and equipment to and from nursing units and other departments, while following established policies.

Shifts vary and training lasts seven consecutive days, daytime hours 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. CPR/BLS certification is required or obtained within 30 days.

Qualifications

• Must be able to rotate shifts that provide 24-hour/day coverage.
• Walk approximately seven miles daily while assisting patients.
• Knowledge of lab terminology and CRT terminals is helpful.
• Ability to safely transfer patients between beds and units.
• Experience with electrocardiographic management systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients and equipment safely between units and departments.
• Acquire ECG readings and operate related equipment per protocol.
• Deliver supplies and medications to patient care areas.
• Ensure proper handoffs of medications with nursing staff.
• Maintain professional communication with patients and staff.
