Job summary

The General Anesthesiologist will provide anesthetics at two hospital locations and four ambulatory surgery centers in our Hickory division. The physician will evaluate patients, develop anesthetic plans, and supervise CRNAs to ensure safe care with optimal outcomes.

Cardiac cases may include CABGs and valves, with a busy TAVR program. New TAVR suite is used in conjunction with heart surgeons and cardiologists.

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
• BC/BE in anesthesiology or eligibility.
• NC state medical license required.
• 3+ years of anesthetic experience in high-acuity settings.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and administers general and regional anesthetics and pain medications, adjusting as needed before, during, and after procedures.
• Provides anesthesia maintenance and adjustment before, during, and after procedures.
• Orders diagnostic tests as needed.
• Works closely with surgical specialists.
• Performs venous and arterial punctures.
• Provides post-anesthesia care and evaluation.
• Monitors mechanical ventilation and other vital signs.
• Communicates with patients and families.
