Job summary

West Virginia University Health System is seeking a Telemetry Surveillance Technician to monitor cardiac activity for patients routed to the centralized unit. You will visually monitor 32–50 patients per station, interpret ECG rhythms, and promptly report life-threatening events to the care team.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, training with passing scores, and preferred certification in HeartSaver or BLS within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Successful completion of assigned training and education with passing scores on all exams/tests.
• Graduate of Technical Education or Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Certification in HeartSaver or Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Monitor 32–50 patients per station on telemetry and hard-wire systems.
• Identify rhythm changes, alarms, and report events to staff per protocol.
• Document ECG rhythm every four hours and report significant changes.
• Assist with telemetry packs, batteries, electrodes, and inventory management.
• Ensure patient safety and effective communication with nursing and medical staff.
