Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Physician Assistant for the Cardiac Surgery department to support ICU coverage, clinic activities, and act as first assist in the operating room. The role includes patient care, education, and collaboration with physicians and staff in a fast-paced surgical setting.

The candidate will participate in quality improvement initiatives, maintain licensure, and contribute to departmental committees as appropriate.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Licensed Physician Assistant in Illinois (IL).
• Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• ACLS certification as required by department.
• DEA registration as required by department.

Responsibilities

• Conducts comprehensive health assessments including histories and physical exams.
• Provides direct clinical care to patients.
• Prescribes and orders medications and therapies; interprets tests as allowed by privileges.
• Evaluates patients for further health care needs.
• Delivers patient and family education.
• Maintains documentation in medical records for care provided and procedures performed.
