Job summary

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join the cardiac surgery team, working with ICU/PCU coverage. The APP collaborates with a licensed physician to provide full-scope care for acute and stable chronic conditions, including education and counseling for patients and families.

Hours rotate between 6am–6pm and 6pm–6am, with a focus on preventive care and coordination of referrals.

Qualifications

• Current certificate of authority to practice as an APRN in the State of Ohio.
• Graduate of a Nurse Practitioner program that qualifies the graduate to sit for the certification examination recognized by the Ohio Board of Nursing.
• Master of Science Degree in Nursing.
• 0 years of relevant experience required.
• Acute Care NP strongly preferred.
• 0-2 years of ICU or cardiac surgery experience preferred.
• Masters Prepared; Graduate of a PA-C program that qualifies the graduate to sit for the certification examination recognized by the National Certification Commission for Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
• Eligibility for State of Ohio licensure as a PA-C.
• 0 years of relevant experience required.
• 0-2 years of ICU or cardiac surgery experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide health care services to patients in collaboration with a licensed physician.
• Care for patients in acute and chronic phases of illness, including education and counseling.
• Promote health and prevention, and refer to other providers and community resources as appropriate.
