Job summary

University Hospitals’ UH Cleveland Medical Center is seeking a Cardiac First Assistant (RNFA, PA, or Surgical Assistant) to join our high-volume cardiac surgery program. You’ll support coronary, valve, transplant, robotic, and structural heart procedures, both in the OR and in the cath lab, under supervision of the attending surgeon.

The role requires Second Call availability, RN/SA/PA credentials per track, and the ability to travel for regional call.

Qualifications

• Must demonstrate proficiency in taking Second Call (Required)
• Advanced Life Support Equipment knowledge (Required)
• Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with CT surgery instruments (Required)
• High hand/eye coordination with uniform mental attention (Required)

Responsibilities

• Performs preoperative and postoperative duties to facilitate the surgical patient’s perioperative period.
• 1st and/or 2nd assist cardiac surgical procedures as needed.
• Travel on regional call to support Cardiac Surgery and Transplant programs across the system.
• Comply with all UH policies and PHI handling requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
