Job summary

The University of Chicago's Department of Surgery, Section of Cardiac Surgery, seeks Clinical Associates at 100% effort for renewable terms of up to three years. Clinical responsibilities include independent call, inpatient rounding on LVAD patients, and supporting all Cardiac Surgery programs at the Hyde Park campus and affiliated offsite community practices and partner locations.

• Rounding for LVAD patients in inpatient setting.
• Support Cardiac Surgery programs at Hyde Park and affiliate sites.
• Engage with CT Transplant, Procurement and ECMO as applicable.

Job description

The University of Chicago's Department of Surgery, Section of Cardiac Surgery, seeks Clinical Associates at 100% effort for renewable terms of up to three years. Clinical responsibilities include independent call, inpatient rounding on LVAD patients, and supporting all Cardiac Surgery programs at the Hyde Park campus and affiliated offsite community practices and partner locations. Programs include CT Transplant, Procurement, and ECMO. These positions do not require teaching or scholarly activity.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must:

1. have a medical doctorate or equivalent
2. hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois and the State of Indiana
3. be board-certified or board-eligible by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery or equivalent
4. have completed an ACGME-accredited fellowship and/or equivalent training in cardiovascular/thoracic (CVT) surgery
