Travel RN Job Details

Location: Burlington, VT 05401 (Vermont nursing jobs)
Facility Setting: Cardiac Progressive Care Stepdown Unit (PCU) – Telemetry/Surgical Focus
Assignment Length: 26 weeks (10/6/2025 – 4/6/2026)
Shift: 12-hour nights (3x12-hour shifts/week, 36 hours/week)
Estimated Weekly Pay: $2160–$2210/week
Unit: Miller 3 – PCU, 32 beds
Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
Charting System: Epic EMR

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (required for Vermont healthcare jobs)
Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, including at least 1 year in a cardiac stepdown, progressive care, or telemetry unit
Recent experience in a Level 1 trauma center within the last year
Previous travel nursing experience required (no first-time travelers)
Proficiency with Epic charting system within the past 2 years
Experience with cardiothoracic vascular and post-op day 1 open/closed heart patients
Certifications: AHA BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (PCCN certification preferred)
COVID-19 and Flu vaccinations required (medical/religious flu exemptions accepted)
Willingness to float to similar units as needed
Reliable personal or rental vehicle required (public transportation not available)
All-season or snow tires required for vehicles November–April

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality nursing care to cardiac stepdown and surgical patients in a progressive care unit
Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry, manage cardiac drips, and respond to changes in patient condition
Provide care for pre- and post-operative cardiothoracic and vascular surgery patients
Administer blood products, manage central/PICC lines, chest tubes, and wound vacs
Implement isolation precautions and follow infection control protocols
Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including PT, RT, pharmacy, and rapid response
Accurately document patient care in Epic EMR
Float to similar units as needed and work 2 out of 4 major holidays if scheduled
