Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Cardiac Sonographer - Lead to perform advanced diagnostic and interventional imaging, while supervising and coordinating the team when leadership is unavailable. The role emphasizes patient safety and imaging standards across procedures.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a school of Sonography with clinical hours or on-the-job training under a Cardiac ultrasound Preceptor.
• Two years of relevant experience or graduate of a Bachelor degree program.
• State licensure may be required depending on the state of practice.
• ARDMS RDCS or CCI RCS; Basic Life Support (BLS)

Responsibilities

• Lead the team in the absence of a supervisor and coordinate daily assignments.
• Perform diagnostic and interventional cardiac imaging procedures.
• Train and mentor staff on imaging techniques and safety.
• Maintain imaging quality and patient safety standards.

The Cardiac Sonographer - Lead performs a variety of diagnostic and interventional procedures assisting in diagnosing and monitoring a wide range of medical conditions. This role requires proficiency and thorough understanding of operating imaging equipment and procedures while ensuring patient safety and maintaining imaging standards. Responsibilities also include serving as lead when direct leadership is unavailable, coordinating daily work assignments and assisting in training. Effective communication with patients and healthcare professionals is essential for providing optimal care.

Position Details

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of a school of Sonography and completed required clinical hours OR received on the job training by a Preceptor who is registered in Cardiac ultrasound.
• Experience: Two (2) years of relevant experience OR graduate of Bachelor degree program.
• Licensure: State licensure may be required depending on the specific state of practice.
• Certification: ARDMS (RDCS) or CCI(RCS); Basic Life Support (BLS)

• Ability to lead and motivate a team, manage schedules, and coordinate daily operations.
• Capability to make informed decisions regarding imaging procedures, patient care, and team management.
• Ability to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously, such as performing imaging procedures while supervising team members.
• Knowledge in proficiency producing diagnostic images with the ability to recognize technical abnormalities
• Knowledge of a variety of advanced procedures as applicable
• Knowledge of safe & proper machine operation, machine emergency procedures and radiation safety procedures.
• Knowledge of protocols and ability to make adjustments as needed.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex instructions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Physical Requirements

• Position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
• Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
• Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
