Job summary

Novant Health is looking for a Cardiac Sonographer I to oversee daily echo-lab operations and equipment maintenance. You will collaborate closely with Cardiologists to ensure high-quality transthoracic and transesophageal echoes, while maintaining patient-centered care and strict ethical standards.

Ideal candidates hold RDCS or RCS certification, with an Associate Degree and 1 year of relevant experience, and must be able to manage workload and emergencies in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2 Year / Associate Degree required.
• Graduate from an accredited Cardiovascular Program preferred.
• 1 year experience preferred.
• Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS or RCS) required; new graduates have 6 months to pass registry.
• Ability to operate sonographic equipment effectively.
• Ability to evaluate echocardiograms for diagnostic information.
• Ability to shift workload to meet patient needs.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment to obtain optimal echocardiography information.
• Ability to follow established departmental procedures.
• Ability to work efficiently and cope with emergencies.
• Strong knowledge of echocardiography interpretation and skills.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for daily echo lab operations and equipment maintenance.
• Report equipment failures and identify quality improvement opportunities.
• Collaborate with Cardiologist to obtain optimal echocardiography quality.
