Job summary

UAB Medicine in Alabama seeks a dedicated echocardiography technologist to join our imaging team. Under supervision, you will perform routine and emergency echocardiograms (2D/3D, Doppler) and ensure high-quality documentation across locations and shifts.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, completion of an approved cardiovascular ultrasound program, and eligibility to test for RDCS or RCS within 12 months. BLS/ACLS certification is also required.

Qualifications

• Current BLS or ACLS certification by the AHA is required.

Job Description

Under close supervision and guidance, to demonstrate proficiency commensurate with basic technical skills. To perform routine and emergency echocardiograms including, but not limited to, 2D, 3D, Doppler, myocardial mechanics, and ultrasound enhancing agents. To proficiently operate diagnostic ultrasound and ancillary equipment. To thoroughly complete appropriate documentation. To provide echocardiography services at all locations and schedules as needed to meet patient care needs.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED equivalent required. Graduate of an accredited cardiovascular ultrasound training program preferred. Proof of eligibility to test for RDCS or RCS certification required for new graduates of a sonography program. ARDMS or CCI certification in Echocardiography must be obtained within twelve (12) months from date of hire to position. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) by the American Heart Association (AHA) required. All candidates must successfully complete ultrasound scanning of the heart, subject to approval by the Echo Quality Panel, as part of the interview process.
