Job Description: Cardiac Ultrasound Technician
Performs advanced Cardiac Ultrasound procedures to facilitate accurate diagnosis and treatment of patients.
New Hires After 1/1/2024:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduate of an Echocardiography or Ultrasound Program and certification in Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS), to be obtained within one year of hire, or high school graduate with relevant experience and certification.
- Certification in RCS or RDCS preferred, or to be obtained within one year of hire.
- Obtain Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire date.
Hired Prior to 1/1/2024:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduate of an Echocardiography or Ultrasound Program, or high school graduate with two years of prior echocardiography experience.
- Obtain BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in RCS or RDCS.
Core Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform advanced non-invasive imaging procedures for Cardiac Laboratories.
- Properly bill procedures and prioritize patient scheduling.
- Coordinate and prioritize patient scheduling to ensure timely procedure completion.
- Gather information before testing, answer patient questions, and maintain courtesy.
- Perform imaging procedures within guidelines and timeframes.
- Notify medical staff of significant abnormal findings.
- Document procedures in patient charts and ensure proper billing.
- Calculate and measure cardiovascular structures to aid diagnosis.
- Maintain equipment and work areas cleanliness.
- Support ongoing education and training of staff and new sonographers.
- Provide preliminary reports promptly and review with physicians.
- Follow protocols and participate in training activities.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods.
- Lift, push, or pull at least 40 pounds.
- Good hearing and visual acuity.
