Performs advanced Cardiac Ultrasound procedures to facilitate appropriate diagnosis and treatment of patients.
NEW HIRES AFTER 1/1/2024:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, EXPERIENCE, AND/OR LICENSURE: Graduate of an Echocardiography or Ultrasound Program with certification in Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) within one year of hire, or high school graduate with relevant certification.
- Certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.
IF HIRED PRIOR TO 1/1/2024
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate of an Echocardiography or Ultrasound Program, or high school graduate with 2 years of prior Echocardiography experience.
- Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Certification in RCS or RDCS preferred.
CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs advanced non-invasive imaging procedures for Cardiac Laboratories.
- Performs proper billing and prioritizes patient scheduling.
- Coordinates and prioritizes patient scheduling to ensure timely procedure completion.
- Prepares patients for procedures, answers questions, and maintains courtesy.
- Performs imaging within established guidelines and timeframes.
- Notifies medical staff of abnormal findings.
- Documents procedures in patient charts.
- Calculates and measures cardiovascular structures to aid diagnosis.
- Maintains equipment and work areas.
- Completes accurate documentation for billing purposes.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
- Supports development and training of new sonographers.
- Participates in ongoing education and training.
- Acts as a preceptor for new staff.
- Provides preliminary reports and reviews with physicians.
- Follows protocols and policies.
- Participates in ultrasound training and procedures.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Sitting for extended periods.
- Lifting, pushing, or pulling up to 40 pounds.
- Hearing ability without lip reading.
- Visual acuity for reading small print.
