Job summary

Trauma News in Akron, OH is seeking a Cardiac Sonographer I for a part-time role (20 hours per week), with Mon-Fri schedule, travel and on-call rotation, and a $10,000 sign-on bonus. The Cardiac Sonographer I will perform non-invasive transthoracic echocardiography, assist with related procedures, and provide data to help the cardiologist diagnose congenital heart defects.

Ideal candidates have an Associate degree in an allied health field, ARDMS RDCS pediatric registry within two years of hire,

Qualifications

• Assoc degree in allied health required; bachelor's preferred.
• ARDMS RDCS pediatric registry required within 2 years.
• ARDMS/CCI echocardiography credential required; pediatric credential preferred.
• BLS certification required.
• CAAHEP-accredited program completion or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Perform non-invasive transthoracic echocardiographic studies.
• Assist physician with transesophageal and intraoperative echocardiography.
• Provide data on cardiac anatomy and hemodynamics to aid diagnosis.
• Operate testing equipment as needed.
• Assess patient status and age-appropriate requirements.
• Be available for 24-hour on-call rotation after orientation.
• Work at remote clinic facilities.
• Perform other duties as required.

Summary

The Cardiac Sonographer I completes non-invasive transthoracic echocardiographic studies, assists with various echocardiographic procedures.

Responsibilities

1. 1. Performs complete non-invasive transthoracic echocardiographic studies, assists with various echocardiographic procedures.
2. 2. Assists the physician with transesophageal, intraoperative, contrast, and, if designated, fetal echocardiography.
3. 3. Functions independently and provides applicable data regarding cardiac anatomy and hemodynamics to assist the cardiologist in the diagnosis of congenital heart defects.
4. 4. Uses a variety of equipment necessary to perform testing.
5. 5. Demonstrates the ability to assess patient status and identify each patient's specific age requirements.
6. 6. Is available for call 24 hours a day on a rotational basis after appropriate training/orientation period.
7. 7. Works at remote clinic facilities.
8. 8. Other duties as required.

Other information

Technical Expertise

1. 1. Experience in clinical setting performing echocardiograms is required.
2. 2. Experience interacting with a variety of people and ages in a helpful manner, with understanding of growth and development specific to that age is preferred.
3. 3. Experience in healthcare is preferred.
4. 4. Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is required.

Education and Experience

1. 1. Education: Associate's degree in allied health profession required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
2. 2. Certification: ARDMS RDCS pediatric registry within two years of hire.
3. 3. An appropriate credential in echocardiography from ARDMS or CCI is required. A credential in pediatric echocardiography is preferred. Successful completion of an ultrasound or CVT program accredited by CAAHEP or another nationally recognized accrediting body is required.
4. 4. Basic Life Support Certification is required.
5. 5. Years of experience supervising: None.
