Job summary

American Society of Echocardiography in Akron, OH seeks an experienced echocardiography professional to perform comprehensive transthoracic exams and support a range of echocardiographic procedures.

The role requires ARDMS RDCS pediatric registry within two years and a credential in echocardiography from ARDMS or CCI, with BLS certification. Flexibility for 24-hour call rotation and on-site work at multiple clinic sites is expected.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in allied health required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• ARDMS RDCS pediatric registry within two years of hire.
• Credential in echocardiography from ARDMS or CCI required; pediatric echocardiography preferred.
• Ultrasound or CVT program accreditation by a recognized accrediting body required.
• Basic Life Support Certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs complete non-invasive transthoracic echocardiographic studies and assists with echocardiographic procedures.
• Assists physician with transesophageal, intraoperative, contrast, and fetal echocardiography as designated.
• Provides data on cardiac anatomy and hemodynamics to aid diagnosis.
• Uses equipment to perform testing and ensures patient safety.
• Maintains awareness of patient age-specific needs and schedules 24-hour call rotation after orientation period.
• Works at remote clinic facilities as needed.

Summary

Performs complete non-invasive transthoracic echocardiographic studies, assists with various echocardiographic procedures.

Responsibilities

1. 1. Performs complete non-invasive transthoracic echocardiographic studies, assists with various echocardiographic procedures.
2. 2. Assists the physician with transesophageal, intraoperative, contrast, and, if designated, fetal echocardiography.
3. 3. Functions independently and provides applicable data regarding cardiac anatomy and hemodynamics to assist the cardiologist in the diagnosis of congenital heart defects.
4. 4. Uses a variety of equipment necessary to perform testing.
5. 5. Demonstrates the ability to assess patient status and identify each patient's specific age requirements.
6. 6. Is available for call 24 hours a day on a rotational basis after appropriate training/orientation period.
7. 7. Works at remote clinic facilities.
8. 8. Other duties as required.

Other information

Technical Expertise

1. 1. Experience in clinical setting performing echocardiograms is required.
2. 2. Experience interacting with a variety of people and ages in a helpful manner, with understanding of growth and development specific to that age is preferred.
3. 3. Experience in healthcare is preferred.
4. 4. Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is required.

Education and Experience

1. 1. Education: Associate's degree in allied health profession required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
2. 2. Certification: ARDMS RDCS pediatric registry within two years of hire.
3. 3. An appropriate credential in echocardiography from ARDMS or CCI is required. A credential in pediatric echocardiography is preferred. Successful completion of an ultrasound or CVT program accredited by CAAHEP or another nationally recognized accrediting body is required.
4. 4. Basic Life Support Certification is required.
5. 5. Years of experience supervising: None.
