Job summary

Rush Oak Park Hospital is seeking a Cardiac Sonographer 4 to perform echocardiograms including stress echoes and TEEs. The role requires ARDMS certification or equivalent, 3 years of experience, and proficiency in transthoracic echocardiography.

On-site schedule is 10-hour shifts, with a $5,000 sign-on bonus and a pay range of $41.44–$67.44 per hour. Responsibilities include patient identification, requisition review in EPIC, data recording for cardiologists, and maintaining equipment.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited Cardiac Sonography Program and/or ARDMS certification.
  • Registered in Echocardiography.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • 3 years’ experience.
  • Ability to deal courteously with hospital personnel.
  • Verbal and written communication to diverse staff.
  • Confidential information must be maintained.
  • Proficient in transthoracic echocardiography and three imaging/operational areas:
  • Stress Echo, IR/OR Echocardiography, Clinical Instructor or oversight of duties.

Responsibilities

  • Performs echocardiograms, stress echoes and TEEs independently.
  • Identify patient and review requisitions for consistency in EPIC/MERGE.
  • Record medical history and preliminary findings for cardiologists.
  • Assess examinations for technical accuracy and transmit results.
  • Coordinate activities in the Cardiology department.
  • Maintain equipment and report malfunctions to supervision.

Pay Range: $41.44 - $67.44 per hour

Summary:

Performs a variety of cardiac ultrasound examinations, including echocardiograms, stress echo’s and TEEs in order to locate, evaluate and record pertinent anatomical and pathological data for the diagnosis of cardiovascular disease. Required Job Qualifications:
  • Graduate from an accredited Cardiac Sonography Program and/or Certification with the American Registry of Diagnostic
  • Registered in Echocardiography.
  • Current CPR, American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers
  • 3 years’ experience
  • Ability to deal efficiently and courteously with all hospital personnel.
  • Verbal and written skills necessary to facilitate communication with a variety of personnel.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Proficient in Transthoracic Echocardiography and in three of the following areas of imaging or operational support:
  • o Stress Echo
  • o IR/OR Echocardiography
  • o Clinical Instructor for Echocardiography Program under contracted Clinical Affiliation Agreement
  • o Independent oversight and management of an ongoing operational duty
Physical Demands:
  • Physical ability to do repetitive hand motion for scanning 80% of the work day.
  • Visual requirements for computer work 80% of the work week.
  • Full body mobility to assist patients to and from Echo room. 60% of the work day.

Responsibilities:

Job Responsibilities:

  • Performs echocardiograms, stress echo’s and TEEs, independently.
  • Identifies each patient and reviews each patient’s requisitions in Epic for consistency of exam ordered with clinical diagnosis and all demographic information.
  • Records pertinent data i.e. medical history and preliminary findings for Cardiologists review in EPIC and MERGE
  • Reviews each examination for technical accuracy and communicates pertinent data to persons responsible for the care of the patient following the procedure.
  • Coordinates and assists in all activities performed in Cardiology department.
  • Demonstrates the ability to cope with and manage change
  • Maintains equipment and scan areas in proper working condition. Reports malfunctions and necessary repairs to supervisor and cardiologists.
  • Performs clerical and transporter responsibilities as needed.
  • Establishes and maintains a good rapport and cooperative working relationship with all departmental staff, hospital staff, patients, families and hospital visitors.
  • Provides patient education to patient and/or family.
  • Demonstrates the ability to organize patient care and set priorities to ensure the completion of work assignments.
  • Ability to be on call for after hour studies as needed.
