Job summary

Rush Oak Park Hospital in Oak Park, IL, is seeking an experienced ultrasound professional to supervise and perform procedures in the ultrasound/vascular department. You will coordinate day-to-day activities with radiology and other departments and ensure quality and safety in all exams.

The role requires graduation from an accredited ultrasound program, RDMS credentials, 3–5 years of experience, CPR, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited ultrasound program.
  • RDMS credential required.
  • 3–5 years’ experience in ultrasound/vascular imaging.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Able to interact professionally with hospital staff.
  • Knowledge of ultrasound and vascular procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee department operations to ensure quality services.
  • Assign work schedules and approve changes per policies.
  • Initiate counseling and disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Manage department workflow and prioritize tasks by skill and urgency.
  • Ensure budgetary accountability for department resources.
  • Collaborate with other departments to solve ongoing issues.
  • Maintain high standards of exam quality and safety.
  • Orient and train new staff in the department.

Work Schedule: 8 Hr (9:00 AM - 5:30 PM)

Pay Range: $38.02 - $61.88 per hour

Summary

Works closely with the Manager of Medical Imaging and Radiologists to supervise and perform technical procedures in the ultrasound/vascular department. Coordinates with the other departments the day to day activity for routine, portable and invasive patient procedures. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

Required Job Qualifications:

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited ultrasound program.
  • RDMS.
  • 3-5 years’ experience
  • Current CPR
  • Ability to deal efficiently, ethically, and courteously with all hospital personnel.
  • Good verbal and written skills to facilitate communication with the medical and technical personnel.
  • Knowledge of both ultrasound and vascular procedures.
  • All employees who were part of Rush Oak Park on or before January 1, 2010, are considered grandfathered in terms of education, experience, and certification. and therefore, are competent to perform their duties and responsibilities.
Responsibilities
  • Is responsible for the departments’ operational excellence and ensures the department delivers quality services in accordance with applicable policies, procedures and professional standards.
  • Is responsible for assigning employees work schedules and authorizing changes to schedules in accordance with the hospital and departmental policies.
  • Initiates counseling and disciplinary action in a timely and supportive manner.
  • Manages the workflow of the department to ensure the completion of work assignments, taking into consideration priority of work and skill of employees.
  • Demonstrates fiscal accountability for departments operating budgets and resources. Demonstrates the ability to achieve outcomes within the allocated budgets.
  • Has the ability to cope with and manage change as well as help others to the same.Collaborates with other departments to create systems and problem solve ongoing issues that impact departmental/organizational goals and patient care delivery.
  • Demonstrates positive communication skills evidenced by effective working relationships.
  • Evaluates and maintains the quality of exams produced. Ensures proper performance of the exams using universal precautions techniques.
  • Ensure proper orientation and training of new employees within the department.
  • Ensures the equipment in the department is maintained in safe and proper working condition.
