Job summary

Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton, MA, is seeking a Cardiac Sonographer to perform comprehensive echocardiography studies including TTE, TEE, and stress echoes. The role requires RCS or RDCS credentials, an Associate’s degree in Sonography, and BLS certification. Prior experience is preferred. The position is onsite with NH licensing upon hire and a competitive hourly pay range.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Sonography preferred.
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) through CCI, or RDCS through ARDMS required.
  • Previous experience as a Cardiac Sonographer preferred.
  • New Hampshire locations license required upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive transthoracic echocardiograms (TTEs), TEE, Stress Echo, portable cardiac ultrasound studies, and contrast/bubble studies with diagnostic images.
  • Review patient histories and prior imaging to ensure appropriate exam protocols and safe, patient-centered care.
  • Prepare accurate preliminary reports and communicate relevant findings to interpreting physicians promptly.
  • Maintain equipment, exam rooms, infection prevention, privacy, and hospital policies.
  • Utilize proper positioning and scanning techniques to ensure patient comfort and safety.
  • Assist with scheduling, workflow coordination, and maintain productivity and quality standards; may precept students.

Perform Comprehensive Cardiac Ultrasound ExamsIndependently perform high-quality transthoracic echocardiograms (TTEs), TEE Stress Echo, portable cardiac ultrasound studies, and contrast/bubble studies while acquiring diagnostic images for physician interpretation.2. Assess and Prepare Patients for ProceduresReview patient histories, prior imaging, and clinical information to ensure appropriate exam protocols and deliver safe, patient-centered care. IV placement knowledge preferred but will provide training.3. Document and Communicate FindingsPrepare accurate preliminary reports and communicate relevant findings to interpreting physicians in a timely manner.4. Maintain Safety, Quality, and Compliance StandardsPrepare equipment and exam rooms, adhere to infection prevention and patient safety protocols, and comply with all privacy, departmental, and hospital policies.5. Support Exceptional Patient ExperiencesUtilize proper positioning and ergonomic scanning techniques to ensure patient comfort, safety, and a positive experience for patients and families.6. Contribute to Departmental ExcellenceParticipate in quality improvement and accreditation activities, assist with scheduling and workflow coordination, and meet established productivity and quality standards and other activities as required by department.7.
