Job summary

Mass General Brigham seeks a Per Diem Cardiac Sonographer for on-site coverage at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. The role involves performing high-quality transthoracic echocardiograms, preparing findings, and supporting a patient-centered care approach.

Flexible with shifts, minimum 2 eight-hour shifts monthly, with competitive pay and benefits. Requirements include an Associate's degree in Sonography, BLS, and ARDMS/CCI cardiac sonography credentials; prior experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Sonography preferred.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) through CCI, or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) through ARDMS required.
• Previous experience as a Cardiac Sonographer preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive transthoracic echocardiograms (TTEs) and related studies with diagnostic-quality images.
• Review patient histories and prior imaging to ensure appropriate exam protocols.
• Prepare preliminary reports and communicate findings to physicians promptly.
• Maintain equipment and exam rooms with strict safety and infection prevention practices.
• Support patient experience through proper positioning and comfort.
• Assist with scheduling, workflow, and quality standards within the department.

While supporting the Cape Cod community, providers of the practice also support both Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket Cottage Hospital, to bring cardiac care closer to home for patients and provide a bridge to Mass General Brigham academic medical centers where advanced care is needed!We are seeking a Per Diem Cardiac Sonographer to support our practice on-site picking up a minimum of 2, 8-hour shifts a month. We are flexible with the shift times based on the candidate’s availability!Key Responsibilities1. Perform Comprehensive Cardiac Ultrasound ExamsIndependently perform high-quality transthoracic echocardiograms (TTEs), portable cardiac ultrasound studies, and contrast/bubble studies while acquiring diagnostic images for physician interpretation.2. Assess and Prepare Patients for ProceduresReview patient histories, prior imaging, and clinical information to ensure appropriate exam protocols and deliver safe, patient-centered care.3. Document and Communicate FindingsPrepare accurate preliminary reports and communicate relevant findings to interpreting physicians in a timely manner.4. Maintain Safety, Quality, and Compliance StandardsPrepare equipment and exam rooms, adhere to infection prevention and patient safety protocols, and comply with all privacy, departmental, and hospital policies.5. Support Exceptional Patient ExperiencesUtilize proper positioning and ergonomic scanning techniques to ensure patient comfort, safety, and a positive experience for patients and families.6.
