Job summary

MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center is seeking a Telemetry Technician to oversee cardiac rhythm observation, recordkeeping, and system maintenance. The role supports nursing staff by promptly notifying changes and ensuring accurate telemetry records in a fast-paced hospital setting.

The position requires ability to interpret rhythms, strong communication, and flexibility to work day shifts, with weekend and Wednesday rotations as described.

Qualifications

• Must have high school education or equivalent.
• Demonstrated competence working with patients preferred.
• Ability to interpret cardiac rhythms.

Responsibilities

• Observes and interprets cardiac rhythms.
• Records ECG strips at designated intervals and as changes occur.
• Prints cardiac rhythm strips as needed.
• Notifies RN of all changes in rhythm and heart rate.
• Maintains telemetry records.
• Ensures proper functioning of telemetry system; troubleshoots equipment problems.
• Updates Communication Board.
• Communicates professionally with internal/external customers and colleagues, using courteous telephone etiquette.
