Job summary

Mercy Health in Lorain, OH, is seeking an Exercise Physiologist II for the Cardiac Rehab program. You will develop and evaluate the exercise component, review patient history, present lectures, and tailor exercise prescriptions.

You will monitor responses to therapy and adjust plans accordingly while mentoring new team members. The role requires a Bachelor's in Exercise Science/Physiology (required) and a Master’s preferred, with certifications in BLS/ACLS/PALS and ACSM or ASEP preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science/ Exercise Physiology (required).
• Master's Degree in Exercise Science/ Exercise Physiology (preferred).
• BLS Basic Life Support, ACLS or PALS (preferred at hire; ACLS/PALS based on specialty).
• ACSM Certification or ASEP Certification (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Review medical history and exercise history prior to goal setting; assess musculoskeletal and cardiovascular history.
• Educate patients on self-monitoring target heart rate (THR) and rate of perceived exertion (RPE).
• Write clinic exercise prescriptions and document patient responses (heart rate, ECG, symptoms).
• Perform six-minute walk test or submax exercise tolerance test during evaluation and discharge; document findings.
• Provide patients with home exercise guidelines.
• Document monthly on the Individualized Treatment Plan (ITP); reassess goals and discharge planning.
• Act as site supervisor for Clinic Student University Internship program.
