Job summary

Danbury Hospital is seeking a Surgical Technologist to perform scrub duties and assist in nursing care of the surgical patient before, during, and after procedures. A $25,000.00 sign-on bonus is offered and strong cardiac OR experience is preferred.

Responsibilities include maintaining a safe, efficient environment for the patient, applying aseptic principles, and preparing equipment for procedures. Minimum one year experience and certification are required.

Qualifications

• Required: Surgical Technologist Certification.
• Minimum Experience: one year.

Responsibilities

• Provides a safe, efficient, and supportive environment for the surgical patient.
• Applies knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pharmacologic agents to individualize patient care.
• Applies aseptic principles to provide optimum patient care, respecting patient privacy and dignity.
• Prepares and knows uses of all equipment and supplies for surgical procedures; demonstrates dexterity with instruments.
• Anticipates the needs of the surgeon to expedite the procedure and minimize patient exposure to surgical and anesthetic stress.
• Organizes work efficiently and trains others in time, motion, and materials management.
• Identifies emergencies and responds using established procedures calmly and efficiently.
• Completes a minimum of 10 hours of continuing education per year and maintains certification; demonstrates ability to teach others.
• Participates in in-servicing staff related to the scrub role.
• Functions professionally in all aspects of surgical care during routine and special duties.
• Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
