Job summary

Duke University School of Medicine seeks a laboratory technician to support the laboratory of Dr. Ching Zhu in the Duke Cardiovascular Research Center.

The role focuses on neuroscience techniques related to the nervous system of the heart and its role in lethal rhythm disorders. The position requires a two-year commitment, interest in mouse models, and duties including histology, microscopy, tissue culture, qPCR/RNAseq, Langendorff physiology, and optical mapping.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in cell biology, neuroscience, bioengineering or related scientific field.
• Some background in bench experimentation preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with molecular biology and physiology experiments.
• Obtain, prepare, mount and stain tissue.
• Prepare chemicals, reagents and solutions.
• Assist in maintaining laboratory compliance with health and safety regulations.
