Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse for a part-time, PM shift from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. The successful candidate will provide nursing care to patients using the nursing process and hospital standards, and will orient and advocate for patients and families.

The role requires graduation from an accredited Practical Nursing Program and Alabama LPN licensure, with BLS. Depending on unit, ACLS or PALS may be required.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited Practical Nursing Program.
• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Alabama required or endorsed.
• BLS certification required or obtain within 30 days.
• ACLS and/or PALS may be required depending on unit.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients using the nursing process and hospital standards.
• Orient patients and families to the surrounding environment and advocate for patients.
• Collect patient assessment data and notify the RN of issues.
• Document care delivery and respond effectively to emergencies.
• Support education needs of patients and serve as a role model to staff.
