Job summary

Jack Hughston Memorial Hospital seeks a skilled echocardiography technologist to operate ultrasound equipment and perform echocardiograms for diagnosis and patient care. You will report preliminary findings to the Cardiologist and transfer images to PACS after quality checks.

You will review charts, maintain data logs, and provide pertinent clinical information to the Cardiologist. On-call duties and strict image quality standards are part of the role.

Qualifications

• Six months of formal Echo training
• Graduate of Radiologic Technology and/or an approved School for Diagnostic Ultrasound
• BLS certification required
• ARDMS or CCI preferred; RDCS registry required within 2 years

Responsibilities

• Perform quality and timely routine echocardiogram studies and render accurate written summaries
• Maintain and care for ultrasound probes and equipment, including cleaning and storage
• Complete and close out all procedures in the computer system daily, ensuring accurate charge capture
• Respond to on-call calls within 30 minutes and arrive at the hospital within 45 minutes
• Prepare for exams by checking equipment, inventorying, restocking supplies, and setting up recording equipment
• Record exams by calculating heart wall motion, chamber sizes, blood flow direction and velocity
• Perform standard echocardiograms including M-mode, 2D Doppler, and color flow studies
• Other duties as assigned
