Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System in Olathe is seeking a Cardiac Sonographer to provide advanced ultrasound imaging for cardiac patients. You will perform echocardiograms, including stress tests, and coordinate with cardiologists to ensure high-quality studies.

The role requires BLS on hire, and certification in RDCS or RCS within 180 days. You will educate students and contribute to quality improvement, maintain equipment logs, and participate in on-call services as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate
• Graduate of accredited cardiac ultrasound/echocardiography program
• Training or certification in IV and UEA contrast administration
• BLS or BCLS certification on hire
• RDCS or RCS credential planned or within 180 days
• Maintain CME requirements
• Ability to train in area of competency
• Must have basic computer skills

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient history and verify exam aligns with indication; clarify with ordering physician if needed.
• Ensure patient safety and comfort during procedures.
• Perform routine and complex echocardiograms including stress echocardiograms.
• Assist with TEE imaging and post-procedure probe cleaning/des infection.
• Provide on-call echocardiographic services under cardiologist direction as assigned.
• Organize data for interpretation and communicate critical values to physician.
• Contribute to department quality improvement and education activities.
