Job summary

Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, VA seeks an experienced Registered Sonographer (Echo) for days, with shift flexibility and potential for weekends. You will perform transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiograms, contribute to research, and support clinical trials in CVI, under the area’s only Level 1 Trauma Center.

New hire sign‑on bonus up to $30,000 and relocation up to $7,000 are available. Requires ARDMS/ARRT and BLS, with strong teamwork and patient‑centered care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program required, or completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program with documented ultrasound training required.
• Current ARDMS or ARRT Sonography certification in applicable specialty area required (e.g., Abdomen, OB/GYN, Breast, Vascular, or Neurosonography).
• AHA BLS-HCP certification required.
• Effective interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills required.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize workload, and maintain patient confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Performs diagnostic ultrasound examinations with high-quality images for physician interpretation.
• Reviews patient history and orders to ensure proper examination protocols.
• Positions and monitors patients during procedures for comfort and safety.
• Operates and maintains ultrasound equipment and performs QA checks.
• Documents procedures and patient information in EMR and imaging systems.
• Handles patient processing tasks such as scheduling and registration as needed.
• Adheres to Carilion Clinic standards, policies, and accreditation requirements.
• Supports performance improvement, quality assurance, and patient safety initiatives.
